Luke Bryan Can Catch a 130-Pound Sailfish On His Own, Thank You

LUKE BRYAN posted a photo last week of a huge Pacific sailfish he caught near Costa Rica.  We’ve seen similar pics that other country stars have posted, so it seemed like no big deal.  Turns out it was a big deal.

CMT called the actual charter boat guy and he said the “mates” on the boat usually do almost all the work, and then the tourist poses with the “catch” and brags about it.  Not Luke.  Here’s what the charter guy said, quote, “He wanted to do it himself, and he did.

“When the sailfish was behind the boat, he took his own rod and pitched his own bait, letting the line out.  The hard part is knowing when to set the hook.  But Luke was patient, and he waited until the fish swam away before he put pressure on the rod.

“A lot of people can’t do that.”  It did take more than one person to bring the sailfish onto the boat, which is understandable seeing as it weighed “around 130 pounds.”  And if you’re wondering, yes, he released it back into the water.
