Trace Adkins Didn’t Want to Beat Up Mark Wahlberg in the “Deepwater Horizon” Movie

TRACE ADKINS tells CMT a great story about a scene he’s in from the movie “Deepwater Horizon”, which is about the 2010 BP oil spill.  Good casting by the way, because, as you know, Trace used to workon a drilling rig.

Anyway, he has to lay a beatdown on MARK WAHLBERG, who plays a real life oil worker named Mike Williams.  Williams was injured after jumping off the rig and Trace didn’t think it was right to pound on the guy after what he’d been through.

He says, quote, “His leg was banged up.  His shoulder was messed up.  I was trying to get some information out of him and I didn’t really want to get that rough with him.”

But the director needed him to do just that . . . so he stepped in.  Trace continues, quote, “He started hitting me in the chest and pushing me back and cussing at me.  He made me mad, you know?

“As soon as he got me as mad as he wanted me to be, he said ‘Action’ and we did the scene and he got what he wanted.  He knew what he was doing.”  The movie also stars Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell, and Gina Rodriguez.  It’ll be in theaters September 30th.
